I experienced hair loss twice After suffering from Covid 19
in February and July of 2020.
It was difficult,
but ALL that is NOW in the past.
If you're losing hair after suffering from COVID-19, then you are not alone. I also went through the same process twice in 2020. However, as a hair regrowth specialist, I was able to stop hair shedding quickly using the protocols I've developed. I had never experienced hair loss like this, so I understand how distressing it can be. Thankfully, nobody can tell now that I went through such a traumatic experience twice!
Hair loss following exposure or symptoms to the SARS-CoV-2 virus follows the expected time line to a type of hair loss called Telogen Effluvium. This is just a fancy name to describe the activation of the resting phase of the hair follicle (Telogen). Effluvium is simply synchronized shedding of hair fibers above your typical level (way above 50-100 per day) which can happen after a stressful time like a break-up, divorce, bariatric syrgery/extreme dieting, or a viral infection. This form of hair loss normally happens in people who are sensitive to environmental or situational stress. I normally call it "the emotional type of hair loss". If you have the tendency to depression or anxiety, then it's likely a major hair shedding event may follow a depressive or anxiety episode. Telogen Effluvium normally happens 2-3 months from the triggering event.
Viral infections have been associated with this hair loss process, but this is the first time we are seeing so many cases since this is the first time there is a worldwide pandemic of this magnitude.
If you've had COVID-19 symptoms within the last month or just received the vaccine, there is still time to minimize the effects of the virus and the stress it puts on your body which may lead to hair shedding.
If you're experiencing hair shedding right now, please do not hesitate in contacting me. The faster you act during this time, the more effective my protocol will be.
